   ◦ 38 per cent of women and 43 per cent of men will develop cancer in their lifetime, based on current rates.
   ◦ One in four Canadians will die from cancer
   ◦ Death rates due to prostate cancer are dropping.
   ◦ Lung cancer cases and deaths continue to rise among women.
   ◦ Breast cancer was the most frequently diagnosed cancer in women
   ◦ Prostate cancer was the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men.
   ◦ About 1,300 children will develop cancer this year.
   ◦ Survival rates for pediatric cancers have risen dramatically over the past 30 years.
   ◦ Canada has among the world's highest rates for lung, female breast, prostate and colorectal cancers
   ◦ Canada has among the lowest rates for cancers of the stomach, liver, cervix and esophagus.
   ◦ Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and melanoma is increasing for both men and women.
   ◦ Cancer rates and cancer death rates continue to be higher in Eastern Canada and lower in Western Canada.
